Recovery From Anorexia, Bulimia & Binge Eating
16 women who have fully recovered from their eating disorders.
- interviewed by Jane E. Latimer
"They are AWESOME. Will provide people struggling (like myself) great inspiration
and hope and concrete strategies for coping! Personally, I feel like your newsletter
and now these tapes are the best thing that's happened to me this year!"
~ J.S., Northern Colorado
The millions who suffer from emotional eating and related disorders vitally need to
know that there can be a life beyond food, a life in which food, meals and eating
are not really issues anymore.
We decided to search for others, besides Jane, willing to share their stories of
finally emerging from the hell of an eating disorder. People who could say unequivocally
that food was no longer an issue in their lives.
What a wonderful project it evolved into! We now have interviews with 16 women . . .
speaking from their hearts, offering a unique resource of inspiration and hope,
giving literal voice to so many people's deepest longings.

"The fully recovered anorexics that are profiled on the tapes are fantastic — while
I'm seeing nothing but images of myself, I'm HEARING the illogic and destructive
mindset that has driven all of us to eating hang-ups. And now I'm hearing these in
conjunction with your lessons on learning and being in the "sacred-self." The growth
and healing are phenomenal."

We've worked very hard on these audiotapes and think they are wonderful. Listeners have written:
"I love the tapes. They are inspiring, giving me increased hope for my daughter's
recovery, and inspiring me to live a more spiritual life, to align myself with the goodness in the universe.
Thank you." — A.P.
"I recently listened to both sets and they are FANTASTIC! At times I was nearly moved
to tears because I related so much to the stories that were being shared. And I was
left with so much hope and inspiration that I felt I could accomplish anything."
~ M.DiP.
"I've been struggling off and on for close to 15 years with this, but never before
had I heard from so many powerful, and successfully recovered women. After all,
the recovered don't attend the therapy groups after they recover so you can't hear
their stories! All the stories and recovery paths differed, showing me that there
is no right way to do it, just to do it is important. I listened to them all in my
car on the way to and from work and cried many times. Then I listened to them all
again. Then I put them away and started working on myself with more zeal. I've only
had a few minor relapses since (in 2-3 months) and I know if I need to I can pull
the most inspiring tapes out and listen to them again."
~ Kate H.
"Also, did you get the FULL RECOVERY TAPES? They are awesome! Jane interviews
eight women about their full recoveries. Very powerful. It's just like a trusted
friend told you they knew eight women who recovered and gave you their phone
numbers and said give them a call and listen to what they have to say. Every
story is different, unique and takes its own incredible journey. They are very
real, intimate and completely void of any slick commercialization, which makes
them feel so authentic. They have definitely redeemed all those self-help diet
tapes I wasted money on in the past."
- mary A., mass.
"Have anyone of you guys gotten Jane's Full Recovery tapes?? I bought them and
I LOVE them!!!! Listen to them all the time. I am always promoting them. The
messages, voice and experiences are soooooo real. And the recoveries are all
different, but have so maNY similarities we can ALL identify with.",
~ maria
"These tapes are called 'Full Recovery' because that is exactly what these people
have experienced! They are not merely surviving by managing their eating disorder,
they are totally and completely free from it and they are living lives that they
never thought they could! I would encourage everyone to get a copy of these tapes.
I plan to listen to them again and again, especially if I am having a low day.
I will use them to encourage me to stay on the right track. Recovery is possible,
and these tapes provide living proof!"

The two sets of tapes have interviews with very special women who share their
inspiring successes with overcoming their food issues. All the women are fully
recovered, which means they don't obsess, weigh, over- or undereat anymore.
Some have come from heart-wrenching backgrounds — suicide attempts, alcoholism,
drug addiction, etc., and have lived on to master their own fate and destiny —
becoming successful at work, having families, or building friendships. All are
dedicated to helping others and most have left ways you can contact them.
There are some names you may recognize — women who have gone on to write books
and otherwise become leaders in this field — as well as many women who are
leading lives that have nothing to do with emotional eating (including one chef!).
The point is that every one of these women is both extremely ordinary and
extraordinary at the same time. Ordinary, because each one was once in the
place that so many others are today. Extraordinary, because of the choices
and commitments that were made along the way.
